What are the Season Dates?
- Club wrestling (Folkstyle): mid-October through the end of January
- Post season (Freestyle/Greko: February – March
- Summer sessions/camps will be posted to the website
Is a USA card required?
- Yes, Oregon City Kids Club is a USA Wrestling sanctioned wrestling club and all wrestlers and coaches must have a current USA wrestling card to participate. It provides secondary insurance if your wrestler is injured at a tournament or practice.

- Club participants that intend on wrestling for Oregon City in tournaments must affiliate the club when purchasing the USA Wrestling card.
Where are practices held?
Practices are held at the Oregon City High School wrestling room near the track/football field. The stairs to the room are to the right.
How can I get involved?
- Volunteer at our home tournament
- Volunteer at a league tournament
What Gear is included?
- For the fall season, each registered wrestler will receive a t-shirt and shorts.
- A singlet may be checked out for the season. A $100 deposit check is required to check out a singlet. The check will be returned upon singlet turn-in at the end of the wrestling season.
- Gear handout dates will be set annually by the Board of Directors. No gear will be handed out after those 2 dates.
What should my child wear to practice?
- T-Shirt
- Athletic shorts
- Wrestling shoes/socks
- Nothing with buttons, pockets, zippers, etc.
- No necklaces
- Water only in the wrestling room
Does my wrestler need a singlet?
- Yes, if your wrestler is going to compete in any tournaments.
- No, if your wrestler is not going to compete in any tournaments.
- A $100 deposit check is required to check out a singlet. The check will be returned upon singlet turn-in at the end of the wrestling season.
Can my child start after the first practice?
Yes, your child may begin after the first practice is held. Please contact head coach Pro Escobedo.
What is the difference between a league tournament & and an open tournament?
League Tournament
- Oregon City Kids Wrestling is a member of the Northwest Junior Collegiate Wrestling Association
- League tournaments do not require pre-registration and are not in Trackwrestling
- League tournaments are crab pools; 3-6 kids in one bracket based on age and weight
- The weight used is their beginning of season weight
Open Tournament
- Open tournaments typically require pre-registration
- Weigh-Ins are required; times are posted on the tournament fliers
- There are 2 types of tournament formats: crab pool & line bracket.
- Crab Pool: Crab Pool: A grouping of 3-5 based on age and weight
- Line Bracket: Double-elimination tournament; check in with a coach prior to leaving
When and how do I return a singlet?
- Singlet turn in day will be first practice date following the youth state wrestling tournament with one alternate date provided
- Checks will be cashed the second week after the youth state wrestling tournament
What are common skin conditions?
- Please check your wrestler for any changes in or on their skin. If there are any questions, please see a coach.
- Common skin conditions that wrestlers should not practice or compete with without a doctor’s note:
i. Ringworm
ii. Dermatitis
iii. Head lice
